Now, at about that time (6 A. D., -see Acts 5:37), one of many a ‘descendant of David’ rose up and declared that he was the messiah, -come to repair the schism that occurred in the days of Rohoboam and to restore the theocracy as originally instituted by his forefather (David). His name was Judas [the Galilean]. Further, he claimed that, among other things, his countrymen have fallen into ‘errant’ and secular ways and reminded his fellow Jews of God’s Promise that (only) “the descendants of David shall rule over the Jews” (forever). Further, that Herod and his Roman supporters was anathema to God’s plan. He unsuccessfully attempted to overthrow the secular governance of Herod, -was arrested, tried, convicted for the capital offense of ‘insurrection’ and condemned to die by public crucifixion (in the hopes of discouraging other ‘descendants of David’ to refrain from like actions). The government’s hopes were indeed dashed, -as various other ‘descendants of David’ also rose up, -and another and another, until, at last, the wealthy and educated Jews scattered themselves abroad, Jerusalem was razed to the ground and the nation ceased to exist altogether (around 70 A. D.). That, in a ‘nut-shell’ or essentially is what ‘historically’ happened during the Jewish ‘insurrection’, that is to say that, that is the overview of what actually occurred. Or, to put it another way, the Jewish ‘insurrection’ is the background upon which certain and particular individuals (Judas, Jesus and Saul) had their being, moved about the countryside and did their thing. In the meantime, the vacuum that existed throughout the land provided Saul and his cohorts the opportunity to do as they pleased, write anything they chose (never letting the facts get in the way of the “Good News’).
What was written, by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, -under the directions of Saul, for the most part, does not elucidate upon the above three men and, what was written raises many questions concerning them. Moreover, what was written was not written as ‘a history of the Jews’ -in the scientific sense of that word, -it isn’t even ‘history’ in any sense of the circumstances of ‘those days’, -it is only a ‘document’ (divinely inspired, of course), -a ‘document’ that was specially created to replace ‘history’.
